As the economy begins to improve and scarce resources are being unlocked, L&D professionals
are spending their budgets. Our survey shows that they are investing in soft and
management skills programmes which they believe will deliver both skills and loyalty.
There are many companies that have not kept up their development activities over
the past three years. It is these companies that may pay the price in the coming
months as employees start to consider again the benefits to their career of searching
out jobs with development opportunities.
The fact that 25% of employees in our survey had left their last job as a result
of a lack of development would seem to reinforce that assertion.
Without development opportunities employees may vote with their feet…
